  • Tuesday, October 6 – Theology on Tap. Faith in Times of Trouble.  We all face those moments when the events of life can overwhelm us – grief, loss, transition, uncertainty.  These are often times when our faith waivers.  Tonight Fr. Terry Dumas will share his reflections and wisdom on this topic.
  • Monday, October 12 – Theology on Tap. The Mysteries of Underground Rome. Are the remains of St. Peter really directly below the center of the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica?  And what about St. Paul?  Was he really found this summer?  Rome, the Eternal City, holds many mysteries, many of which are found well below the familiar churches, ruins, and fountains.  Fr. Jim will give us this unique opportunity to discover more of the fascinating story of what is below Rome.
  • Monday, October 19 – Theology on Tap. Women in the Church.  Women have always been deeply involved in the Church.  The discussion arises when we begin to look at the specific roles.  When have women pushed the Church to see new ways to live the faith? What is the role of women in the Church in the past, present, & future.  Nancy Joseph from the Diocese of Lansing’s office of Lay Ecclesial Ministry will be speaking.
  • Tuesday, October 27 – Theology on Tap. Deliverance: Faith and the Supernatural. Halloween is just around the corner.  All the scary movies fill the airwaves and cable channels.  Many talk of demons, hauntings, and what happens after this life.  Tonight we will look at what our faith has to say about all these things.

All Theology on Taps take place at Arbor Brewing Co (114. E. Washington) in downtown Ann Arbor.  We begin the night at 7 pm and conclude by 9:00 pm.

Hi!

With the Wings playing tonight, our attendance will be below where I need it to be for the particular activity I had planned. Accordingly, here’s the new plan:

We will meet for dinner at Red Robin on Carpenter Rd at 6:30 pm. This will let those wanting to catch the game enough time to get to a TV by 8:00. Anyone not interested in the game, but who might like to see a movie, we can go to Showcase Cinemas to see a movie. I believe movies on Tuesday nights are $6. Up is showing at 7:45 and Night at the Museum at 7:40.

Please RSVP to me by 6pm if at all possible.

Hi all,

In preparation for this month’s Theology on Tap, we’re going to see Angels and Demons on Tuesday, May 26. Showcase Cinemas (on Carpenter & Ellsworth) has a 7:10 showing. We will see that film. No RSVPs are necessary. I don’t expect the theater to be crowded.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hello!

We had previously established that we would have a friendly competition with the high school youth ministry over the summer.  We would have a food drive and see which of the two groups could gather the most food for a local pantry.

However, we realized that we should combine this with the summer service trip to Honduras that youth and their young adult chaperones are taking.  International Samaritan asks us to bring the following items:

  • Children’s vitamins
  • Clean clothing and children’s shoes that are in good condition or lightly worn
  • School supplies (paper, notebooks, pens, pencils, small backpacks, crayons, colored pencils) in new or good condition (they have 600 students where we’re going)
  • Books written in Spanish (for nursery and elementary school)
  • Tooth brushes and small sample sized toothpaste tubes

We are now going to collect these items for the trip.  I’ll figure out a way to judge the competition fairly.  You can start bringing in the items at any time.  The competition will end on July 29.
