Happy 4th Sunday of Easter!

I hope you all are enjoying this Easter season, even if the weather today is hardly cheerful.  Please keep our Confirmation students in this prayer as they receive the sacrament today.

Peace,

Jen Delvaux

Gospel

Jesus said:
“My sheep hear my voice;
I know them, and they follow me.
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.
No one can take them out of my hand.
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all,
and no one can take them out of the Father’s hand.
The Father and I are one.”

Reflection

Even in the moment I am most fearful, most isolated, most despondent, I am in God’s hand.

Have you ever really considered that? Nothing can remove us from that safe and loved position.  No tragedy, no illness, nothing that we could ever conceive of doing.  God love us.  We are his.  We are held safely in his hand.

In a time when we are easily caught up in all the fears, doubts, and insecurities, this is a resounding message of hope.  Not only are we called to believe it, but we are called to live it.

For if we believe that no matter what the tribulations of our life or the world may be, we are safe within God, then that requires a certain kind of life.  That belief leads to being able to find hope in the shadows of our fears and the fears of others.  That belief leads to having courage in the face of the unknown.  That belief means living a life that can find joy even when tearful.

That belief means sharing that hope, courage, and joy with others.
